OUTSPOKEN AUTHOR, COMMENTATOR AND ECONOMIST, DR. JULIANNE MALVEAUX, KEYNOTE SPEAKER
LITTLE ROCK, AR--- In celebration of Black History Month, The Arkansas Democratic Black Caucus (ADBC) will host its eight annual King-Kennedy Dinner Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2012 at the Metroplex Event Center, 10800 Colonel Glenn Rd., in Little Rock, Ark. A VIP reception begins at 6 p.m. with the dinner following at 7 p.m. The event was established in 2005 to honor and recognize outstanding individuals who have made significant contributions to their communities and the state of Arkansas. Dr. Julianne Malveaux, president of Bennett College, economist, author and commentator will be the keynote speaker for the event.
“We look forward to this event each year because it provides us an opportunity to recognize deserving individuals who place the needs of others above their own,” said Kasey Summerville, president of ADBC.
In addition to recognizing the outstanding honorees during the King-Kennedy Dinner, the audience will be stirred by Malveaux of Greensboro, North Carolina where she serves as the 15th president of the four-year liberal arts women's college. A popular and colorful author, her writings have appeared in USA Today, Black Issues in Higher Education, Ms. Magazine, Essence Magazine, the Progressive and many more.
A committed activist and civic leader, Malveaux has held positions in women’s, civil rights, and policy organizations. Currently she serves on the boards of the Economic Policy Institute, The Recreation Wish List Committee of Washington, DC, and the Liberian Education Trust. She has also lectured at more than 500 colleges/universities.
Well-known for appearances on national network programs, Malveaux, has hosted television and radio programs, and appeared widely as a commentator, on networks including CNN, BET, PBS, NBC, ABC, Fox News, MSNBC, CNBC, C-SPAN and others.
The annual King-Kennedy Dinner held during Black History Month is a fund-raiser for the ADBC, a portion of the proceeds will go to provide a scholarship at an identified historically black college for students wishing to pursue a career in public service.

About the Arkansas Democratic Black Caucus
The Arkansas Democratic Black Caucus (ADBC) was established in 1982 as an extension of the Democratic Party of Arkansas. It provides a vehicle, within the Democratic Party of Arkansas, to address the concerns of African-Americans. The objective of this organization is to achieve proportionate representation of African-American Democratic public officials, elected or appointed in Arkansas; foster election of and monitor the performance of all elected officials and disseminate information to the African-American community through effective communication.
